Junior Sessions return to the outside world on March the 9th !

juniors in winter 2Although some of the older juniors have still been braving the cold outside for a run speed and strength programme, the whole junior session will be help outside from the 9th March or sooner if the weather is cooperative.

Last year due to the bad weather the juniors were stuck inside for almost 4 months and there was a feeling of cabin fever creeping in towards the Spring. This year we have been much luckier with the weather and are hoping to release the pack of junior triathletes to the wilderness of West Park on the 9th March.

Bike will be needed from the 16th February onward, the holiday dates have also now been established to coincide with Bank Holidays and the West Park Bonfire Night Party.

Holiday dates where there is no junior training are:

20th April, 24th August, 2nd November, 28th December.

There will be 1 session where we lose the pool due to the Long Eaton Swimming Club’s Gala, once we know the date for this we will alternative arrangements. This could be a 2 hour session outside or we may swim on the Sunday instead. Watch this space for further details.

Erewash Triathlon and Junior Triathlon !

On Sunday the 19th August the roads of Long Eaton will again be rocked by the participants of Erewash Sprint Triathlon as they swim, bike and run their way around Long Eaton and West Park. Now in it’s 11th year, the triathlon is perfect for beginners featuring a 400m (16 lengths) of the pool at West Park Leisure Centre; a 16km (10 mile) cycle around a mostly flat course through the picturesque Derbyshire countryside; then a 5km (3.2 miles) run of 2 laps of the Parkrun route set in the 127 acres of the beautiful West Park.

There is also a junior event, one of a few in the area. The swim is set in the West Park Leisure Centre and leads onto the multi-lap bike and run course which is designed to be a “within sight” course so no mater where your little ones are, they should be in view at all times.

Long Eaton Triathlon club is proud to support the event with marshal and officiating help as we have done over the past few years. Huge thanks go out to those who spend a few hours helping out, the event couldn’t go ahead without you.

With a cracking swim time of 1 hour, 11 minutes, Cat battled the choppy waters of Holme Pierrepont to make it out onto the bike. the poor weather continued through the bike and Cat made it onto the run and still managed to keep smiling. Well done coach!
